Day 1: Arrival in San Jose

 

Welcome to Costa Rica, the land of nature, biodiversity, and the "Pura Vida" philosophy. Upon arrival at San José International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax after your flight or begin exploring the vibrant atmosphere of the Costa Rican capital. San José offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and local life, serving as the gateway to the natural wonders that await you on this unforgettable journey through Costa Rica.

Day 2: From San José to the Costa Rican "Amazon" - Tortuguero

 

After breakfast, we'll begin our journey to Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. The route will take us through stunning rural landscapes, banana plantations, and lush rainforests until we reach the small port of Pavona. From there, we'll continue by boat, navigating a network of canals surrounded by abundant nature, where we'll have the opportunity to observe tropical birds, monkeys, caimans, and a wide variety of flora native to this unique region.

 

Arriving in Tortuguero marks the entrance to one of Costa Rica's most fascinating ecosystems, known as the "Costa Rican Amazon." This extraordinary national park boasts one of the highest concentrations of biodiversity in the country and serves as a refuge for numerous animal species. After arriving at the lodge and enjoying lunch, we'll have time to appreciate the natural surroundings and begin discovering the magic of this remote corner of the Caribbean, where the rainforest and canals create an unforgettable setting.

Day 3: Tortuguero National Park - nature in its purest form

 

During our stay in Tortuguero, we'll delve into one of Costa Rica's most fascinating and biodiverse ecosystems. Accompanied by naturalist guides, we'll navigate the canals of Tortuguero National Park in search of monkeys, sloths, caimans, iguanas, toucans, and a wide variety of tropical birds. We'll also explore the lodge's private trails, surrounded by the lush Caribbean rainforest, where nature displays all its splendor.

 

The program also includes a visit to the picturesque village of Tortuguero, where we will learn about the culture and daily life of this remote Caribbean community, accessible only by water or air. During free time, we can relax at the lodge, enjoy the tropical gardens, or observe the local wildlife.

 

Between July and October, there is the possibility of taking an optional night excursion to observe the nesting of sea turtles, one of the most exciting natural experiences in Costa Rica.

 

Tortuguero is a place where every boat ride, every trail, and every corner of the jungle offer unforgettable encounters with the extraordinary biodiversity that has made this region the authentic "Amazon of Costa Rica."

Day 4: From the heart of the jungle to the Costa Rican Caribbean - Puerto Viejo

 

After bidding farewell to the magical canals of Tortuguero, we'll continue our journey along Costa Rica's lush Caribbean coast. We'll sail to Moín, passing through landscapes dominated by rainforest, mangroves, and the extraordinary biodiversity that characterizes this unique region of the country.

 

Our route will take us to the port city of Limón, the cultural heart of the Costa Rican Caribbean, where Afro-Caribbean traditions, music, gastronomy, and a relaxed atmosphere full of color and authenticity blend together. From there, we'll continue to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, one of the most charming destinations on the Caribbean coast.

 

Puerto Viejo captivates with its golden sand beaches, turquoise waters, lush tropical vegetation, and unmistakable Caribbean ambiance. Day 5: From Costa Rica to Panama: heading to Bocas del Toro

 

After breakfast, we'll leave behind the idyllic beaches of Puerto Viejo and head towards the border with Panama. The journey takes us along the lush Caribbean coast, through rainforests, plantations, and charming little towns. After completing border formalities, we'll continue our trip to the Bocas del Toro archipelago, one of the most spectacular natural treasures of the Panamanian Caribbean.

 

Once aboard, we'll sail among islands covered in lush tropical vegetation and crystal-clear turquoise waters until we reach Isla Colón, the archipelago's main island and the heart of Bocas del Toro. Its colorful Caribbean houses, relaxed atmosphere, and breathtaking landscapes create a unique ambiance that captivates travelers from all over the world.

 

Upon arrival, we'll have time to enjoy the surroundings, stroll through the lively streets of Bocas Town, or simply relax by the sea. We'll find ourselves in a true tropical paradise, surrounded by white-sand beaches, coral reefs, and lush nature that makes Bocas del Toro one of the most captivating destinations in Central America.

Day 6: Exploring the islands of Bocas del Toro

 

Today we'll enjoy an unforgettable boat trip through the crystal-clear waters of the Bocas del Toro archipelago, one of the most beautiful spots in the Panamanian Caribbean. During the journey, we'll explore spectacular mangrove landscapes, small tropical islands, and white-sand beaches surrounded by turquoise waters.

 

We'll visit some of the archipelago's most iconic locations, where we'll have the opportunity to observe dolphins in their natural habitat, discover colorful coral reefs, and enjoy time for swimming or snorkeling in warm, crystal-clear waters. The excursion will also allow us to explore idyllic beaches accessible only by sea, tranquil havens where nature preserves all its beauty.

 

Throughout the day, the combination of lush tropical vegetation, crystal-clear waters, and a relaxed Caribbean atmosphere will make this one of the most memorable moments of your trip. Return to Isla Colón and enjoy free time to continue exploring the charm of Bocas del Toro.

Day 7: Return to Costa Rica - Puerto Viejo

 

After a few days enjoying the crystal-clear waters and Caribbean atmosphere of Bocas del Toro, we'll begin our return journey to Costa Rica. We'll sail once again among the islands of the archipelago to the mainland, enjoying one last time the spectacular tropical landscapes that characterize this region of the Caribbean.

 

After border formalities, we'll continue our journey to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, one of the most charming towns on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. Upon arrival, you'll have time to relax, stroll through its lively streets, or enjoy its beaches surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.

 

Puerto Viejo will welcome us once again with its bohemian atmosphere, its mix of cultures and its unmistakable Caribbean spirit, offering the perfect setting to continue enjoying the most authentic essence of Costa Rica.

Day 8: From the Caribbean to the capital - San José

 

After breakfast, we'll leave behind the tropical beaches and relaxed atmosphere of the Southern Caribbean to begin our return journey to San José. The route will allow us to admire Costa Rica's lush landscapes once again, passing through rainforests, plantations, and verdant mountains that reflect the country's extraordinary natural wealth.

 

As we approach the Central Valley, we'll enjoy panoramic views of the rural landscapes and the diverse ecosystems that make Costa Rica one of the most fascinating destinations in Latin America. Upon arrival in San José, you'll have free time to relax, do some last-minute shopping, or soak up the atmosphere of the capital before concluding this unforgettable adventure through nature and the Costa Rican Caribbean.

Day 9: Towards the land of volcanoes - Poás Volcano National Park - Arenal

 

After breakfast, we'll begin our journey to the northern region of Costa Rica, stopping at one of the country's most impressive volcanoes: Poás Volcano. Its enormous crater, considered one of the largest in the world, offers spectacular views of a unique volcanic landscape surrounded by lush mountain vegetation.

 

After the visit, we will continue our journey through fertile valleys, agricultural plantations, and picturesque rural villages until we reach the La Fortuna region, dominated by the majestic silhouette of the Arenal Volcano. Considered one of Costa Rica's great natural symbols, Arenal rises above a landscape of rainforests, rivers, and extraordinary biodiversity.

 

Upon arrival, we can enjoy the area's stunning landscapes and the tranquil atmosphere that characterizes this corner of the country. Day 10: Arenal - volcanic trails and tropical nature

 

After breakfast, we'll explore one of Costa Rica's most spectacular landscapes during a hike along the famous 1968 Trail, located at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano. This trail will take us through ancient lava fields created by the massive 1968 eruption, offering breathtaking views of the volcano, Lake Arenal, and the lush tropical vegetation that has reclaimed this fascinating natural environment.

 

Along the trail, we'll have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as learn about the geological history of one of Costa Rica's most iconic volcanoes. The spectacular viewpoints allow us to admire the power of nature and enjoy some of the most photogenic landscapes in the country.

 

In the afternoon, we'll have free time to enjoy optional activities. The more adventurous can experience the thrill of a canopy tour or zipline soaring above the rainforest canopy, while those who prefer a more relaxed activity can visit a sloth sanctuary and get up close to these endearing inhabitants of the Costa Rican forests.

Day 11: From Arenal to Monteverde: coffee, tradition and cloud forests

 

After breakfast, we'll continue our journey to the Monteverde region, passing through some of the most beautiful landscapes in northern Costa Rica. Along the way, we'll enjoy spectacular views of mountains, rainforests, and small rural communities that reflect the country's authentic essence.

 

Upon arrival, we will visit the renowned Don Juan Tours farm, where we will learn firsthand about Costa Rican agricultural traditions and the production process of some of the country's most iconic products. During this fascinating experience, we will discover the journey of coffee from plant to cup, learn about cacao cultivation, and explore the historical importance of sugarcane in the local culture.

 

The tour combines nature, history, and flavors, offering an interactive and authentic experience that allows us to get closer to rural Costa Rican life. After the excursion, transfer to the hotel and free time to enjoy the pleasant mountain climate and the natural surroundings of Monteverde.

Day 12: Cloud forest, volcanoes and wilderness - Rincón de la Vieja National Park

 

After breakfast, we'll venture into the magical cloud forest of Monteverde to explore the famous Selvatura hanging bridges, a unique experience that allows you to observe the rainforest from above. We'll walk among the treetops along trails and suspended bridges, enjoying spectacular views and the extraordinary biodiversity that inhabits this unique ecosystem, home to numerous species of birds, butterflies, and mammals.

 

After the visit, we'll continue our journey north to explore Rincón de la Vieja National Park in the Las Pailas sector. During the hike, we'll discover one of Costa Rica's most fascinating volcanic landscapes, where fumaroles, bubbling mud pools, hot springs, and geothermal features reveal the intense activity beneath the Earth's surface. The trail also winds through tropical forests where we might spot monkeys, coatis, toucans, and a wide variety of other wildlife.

 

At the end of the visit, we will continue towards Bijagua, a quiet town surrounded by lush nature and located between two of the country's great natural treasures: the Tenorio Volcano and the Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

Day 13: Río Celeste: Costa Rica's blue jewel

 

After breakfast, we'll head to Tenorio Volcano National Park, home to one of Costa Rica's most breathtaking natural wonders: the spectacular Celeste River. During a hike along trails surrounded by lush rainforest, we'll discover landscapes of extraordinary beauty, crossing forests teeming with life, inhabited by monkeys, tropical birds, and a wide variety of other species native to this region.

 

The highlight of the visit will be the breathtaking Río Celeste waterfall, whose intense turquoise waters create one of the country's most iconic images. We will also explore the mysteries behind this unique blue color, observing sites such as volcanic vents and the point where two streams converge to produce this singular natural phenomenon.

 

After enjoying this natural paradise, we will return to Bijagua, where we will have time to rest and continue enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the rural landscapes that characterize this charming region of northern Costa Rica.

Day 14: Towards the Pacific Coast - Sunday

 

After breakfast, we'll leave behind the forests and volcanoes of northern Costa Rica and begin our journey to the spectacular South Pacific coast. Along the way, we'll travel through some of the country's most diverse landscapes, passing through fertile valleys, mountains covered in tropical vegetation, and extensive plantations that reflect Costa Rica's natural wealth.

 

Our destination will be Dominical, a charming coastal town known for its relaxed atmosphere, stunning beaches, and lush natural surroundings. Nestled between the rainforest and the Pacific Ocean, this corner of the country offers some of Costa Rica's most authentic and unspoiled landscapes.

 

Upon arrival, we'll have time to enjoy the surroundings, stroll along the beach, watch the sunset over the Pacific, or simply relax surrounded by nature. Dominical is the perfect place to connect with the spirit of "Pura Vida" and enjoy the tranquility of the tropical coast.

Day 15: Whales, mangroves and the Osa Peninsula

 

After breakfast, we'll head to Marino Ballena National Park, one of Costa Rica's best areas for humpback whale watching. Depending on the season, we'll have the opportunity to see these impressive giants of the ocean in their natural habitat, as well as dolphins and other marine species that frequent the warm waters of the Costa Rican Pacific. The famous natural formation known as the Whale's Tail is one of the region's most iconic landmarks.

 

After this unforgettable experience, we'll continue to Sierpe, the gateway to the remote and wild Osa Peninsula. From there, we'll embark on an exciting journey along the Sierpe River, passing through one of the largest mangrove systems in Central America. During the trip, we'll have the opportunity to observe tropical birds, reptiles, and a wide variety of other wildlife native to this extraordinary ecosystem.

 

The adventure culminates in Drake Bay, a true natural paradise located at the gateway to the renowned Corcovado National Park. Day 16: Caño Island: Treasures of the Costa Rican Pacific

 

Today we'll enjoy an excursion to the spectacular Isla del Caño Biological Reserve, considered one of the best places in Costa Rica for snorkeling and discovering the rich marine life of the tropical Pacific. After a pleasant boat ride from Drake Bay, we'll arrive at this protected island surrounded by crystal-clear waters and coral reefs.

 

During the excursion, we'll have the opportunity to observe an amazing variety of marine life, including brightly colored tropical fish, sea turtles, rays, and, with a bit of luck, dolphins or reef sharks. The excellent visibility makes Isla del Caño a true paradise for nature and sea lovers.

 

In addition to its stunning underwater world, the island holds great archaeological and historical significance, having been used as a ceremonial center by ancient pre-Columbian cultures. Surrounded by idyllic landscapes and virtually untouched nature, we will experience an unforgettable adventure in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful and best-preserved corners.

Day 17: Corcovado National Park: Mermaid Station Adventure

 

Today we'll experience one of the most extraordinary moments of the entire trip with an excursion to the heart of the legendary Corcovado National Park, considered by many experts to be one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. After sailing along the South Pacific coast, we'll arrive at the famous Sirena Station, located in one of the most remote and best-preserved areas of the Osa Peninsula.

 

Accompanied by a naturalist guide, we will hike along trails that wind through pristine rainforests, home to an impressive array of animal species. During the hike, we will have the opportunity to observe howler, capuchin, and spider monkeys, sloths, tapirs, coatis, toucans, scarlet macaws, and a wide variety of other birds and reptiles that inhabit this natural sanctuary.

 

Sirena Station is renowned for offering some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in all of Costa Rica, thanks to the extraordinary concentration of wildlife found in its surroundings. Surrounded by lush and virtually untouched nature, we will discover a world where the rainforest remains the true protagonist.

 

After this unforgettable day of exploration in one of Central America's last great wilderness refuges, we will return to Drake Bay. Overnight stay.

At the scheduled time, transfer to the international airport for your return flight. This concludes an unforgettable journey through rainforests, volcanoes, cloud forests, idyllic beaches, and some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.
